
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/3 cup cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon Liquid Smoke, optional
- 3/4 teaspoon paprika
- 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
Directions
- In a small saucepan, saute onion in butter until tender. Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, Liquid Smoke if desired and seasonings. Cook and stir until heated through.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 month. Use as a basting sauce for grilled meats.
