Chewy Peanut Butter Cookies

Bake up a batch of irresistible chewy peanut butter cookies with this simple recipe. These cookies are the perfect combination of peanut buttery goodness and soft, chewy texture.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter-flavored shortening
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon water
  • 2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, cream the shortening, peanut butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 4 minutes. Add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla and water. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well.
  2. Drop by tablespoons 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Flatten with a fork. Bake at 350° until golden brown, 12-15 minutes. Remove to wire racks to cool.
