Peppermint Hot Chocolate

Round out a cozy December evening with two mugs of peppermint hot chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons Dutch-processed cocoa
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Whipped cream and crushed peppermint candies

Directions

  1. Place milk, cocoa and sugar in a large saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer; cook until heated through and well combined, 2-3 minutes. Add chocolate, stir until melted, 1-2 minutes. Remove from heat; add peppermint extract. Pour into mugs and garnish as desired.
