This drink's name comes from the Tahitian word for good or excellent. You'll agree, the mai tai is aptly named.
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 to 2 cups ice cubes
- 2 ounces light rum
- 3/4 ounce orange curacao
- 1/2 ounce Orgeat
- 1-1/2 teaspoons lime juice
- 1-1/2 teaspoons dark rum
- Optional: Lime slice and mint sprig
Directions
- Fill a shaker three-fourths full with ice cubes.
- Add the light rum, orange curacao, Orgeat and lime juice to shaker; cover and shake for 10-15 seconds or until condensation forms on outside of shaker. Strain into double rocks glass filled with ice. Top with dark rum and garnish as desired.
