Ingredients
- 4 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup butter, cubed
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chopped nuts, optional
- FILLING:
- 2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 large egg, room temperature
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350°. In a microwave, melt chocolate and butter; stir until smooth. Cool slightly. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar. Stir in vanilla and the chocolate mixture. Gradually add flour to chocolate mixture (batter will be thick). Stir in nuts if desired.
- Spread half the batter evenly into a greased 13x9-in. baking pan; set aside.
- In a small bowl, beat filling ingredients until blended. Gently spread over batter. Spoon remaining batter over filling; spread to cover.
- Bake 45-50 minutes or until filling is set. Cool on a wire rack 1 hour. Refrigerate at least 2 hours. Cut into bars. Refrigerate leftovers.
