Apple Brown Sugar Syrup

With a hint of spice and plenty of sweet, this apple brown sugar syrup is a total treat come fall. Use it on fresh apple pie, as a marinade for meat or over a scoop of ice cream—you'll find that it's lovely and versatile for many a fall dish.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1-3/4 cups apple juice or cider

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, allspice and nutmeg; mix well. Add apple juice. Cook and stir over medium heat until syrup is bubbly and slightly thickened.
